2 Thessalonians 2:16
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

We thank You, Lord, for encouragement and good hope for the Mudges. We praise You for the provisions that You have already provided for them: spiritual guidance, financial support, and help with all the organizational details necessary for long term mission work. Continue, Lord, to strengthen Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge
in every good deed and word.
Amen.

Mudge Update: Fr. Shaw had a meeting with Stewart Wicker of SAMS for lunch this week. Mr. Wicker believes that the Mudges are in good shape for SAMS certification at the appropriate moment for a late March departure for Peru. The travel arrangements have been made for a February 9th start at Mission Training International in Colorado.

Luke 22:35
When I sent you out without a purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?

We thank You Lord that the Mudges will lack not a thing as they get ready to serve You in Peru. We just ask for your blessings for them. And we humbly pray for their mission and for ours in the following prayer.

Lord, teach us anew to go out into the world and tell the good news. Teach us to go with nothing, so that we might appreciate how much we have. Teach us to appreciate and use what you give us: hands, eyes, ears, skills, and money. And through all, prayer; and through all, the love of God. Amen.

Psalm 20:4-5
May the Lord give you the desire of your heart
And make all your plans succeed.
We will shout for joy when you are victorious
And will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.

We ask, Lord, that You look favorably upon the Mudges and grant them the desires of their hearts. Please make their plans succeed and bless them with answers to their prayers and ours. We pray about financial provision and arrangements being made for mission training in Colorado and for the hoped for departure to Peru at the end of March. In the name of Jesus, Our Savior, we pray for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. Amen.

Update from Father Shaw

The Mudge family remains at Christ's Church, Duanesburg, through January (their last Sunday there is January 25th, the annual meeting date). In February through the middle of March, they plan to be at mission training in Colorado. As soon as possible after March 23, they head for
Peru. The Mudges are still in need of large or small monthly donations. If you have not already pledged, please pray about doing so. And definitely pray that the financial shortfall is erased well before February 1.

General Prayer with Logos

We pray for the South American Missionary Society and for the Diocese of Peru. We pray for the Mudges, Father Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia. May they soon reach their financial goal. Father God, send them every blessing that they need. Amen.

Ephesians 1: 15-19a
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, we give thanks for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge, for their great faith in You and for their love of all the saints. We continue to ask that they receive the Spirit of wisdom and revelation and get to know You better every day. May the eyes of their hearts be enlightened so that they may know the hope to which You have called them, the riches of glorious inheritance in the saints and the incomparable great power of faith found in You. Amen.

James 3:17
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

We thank You, Lord, for every good gift that You have bestowed upon Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. We thank You for wisdom and guidance and for the good fruit that will result from the Mudges’ mission in Peru. We look forward to that harvest of righteousness. On a more practical note, humbly Lord, we ask You to bring forth more monthly pledges so that an early Spring departure for Peru may come to pass.
Amen.

Joel 2:28-30a, 32a
And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days. I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Lord, we know that these words refer to the end times and no one knows when that will be. However, we ask for the gift of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit now for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. We pray for Lydia that in her youth she will see visions of what You have in store for her and that she may so well know You that she will prophesy and spread Your Word and Your Love to all whom she encounters. We pray for Father Shaw and Mother Julie that they also will prophesy and dream dreams even before they are old. Pour out your Spirit, Lord, upon these three faithful servants. We look forward to wonders in the heavens and on the earth and we thank You that everyone who calls upon Your Name will be saved. Amen.

Psalm 139:7-10
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
If I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.

We thank You, Lord, for the beauty of your Scripture, your Word. We thank you for the beauty of creation and we thank You for your promise that wherever we may be You will be there. We thank You for your indwelling in the minds, hearts and souls of Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge right now in the diocese of Albany and in Peru on the far side of the sea in the years to come. Thank You that your hand will guide them; your right hand will hold them fast. Amen.

Matthew 6:33 and 7:7-8
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks the door will be opened.

Father God, You are the King and we praise and exalt your name. We thank You for your faithfulness and for your answers to prayer. We thank You for the provision that you have already granted to Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. And we know in faith that it will continue. We specifically ask for an ongoing infilling of your Holy Spirit so that the Mudges may most effectively spread the good news about your Son, Jesus Christ to the people of Peru and the diocese of Albany. Amen.

Psalm 36: 5-10
Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
  your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
  your justice like the great deep.
O Lord, you preserve both man and beast.
How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
  you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
  in your light we see light.
Continue your love to those who know you,
  your righteousness to the upright in heart.

Lord, we praise and exalt You for your love which reaches to the heavens and for your faithfulness which is so great that it touches the skies. How priceless is your unfailing love! Thank You for the feast of abundance and the drink from the river of delights. Thank You for the fountain of life and for your wonderful light. Continue your love to those who know You especially to Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. Let them feast on your abundance and drink from the river of delight and from the fountain of life. May they spread your light and your love to the people of Peru as they live in your righteousness.
Amen.

Acts 26: 16-18
Jesus’ words to Paul: “Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”

Lord, Jesus, we pray for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia. We believe that you have called them to be witnesses to the people of Peru just as you called Paul to witness to the Gentiles. Give them every spiritual gift that they will need to open eyes and turn the Peruvians from darkness into light and from the power of Satan to God. Help them to teach of your great mercy and forgiveness and to bring the people into sanctification by faith in You.

Also, Lord, we thank You for the finances that have already been provided and ask that the required monthly pledges come in soon.

Amen.

Matthew 28: 18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Lord, we pray for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge and we thank You for calling them to make disciples in the mission field in Peru. Thank You that You are with them and will be with them always, to the very end of the age. Empower then with Your Holy Spirit to bring many into relationship with Your Son, Jesus Christ.

We also pray for the diocesan Missions Conference on October 11. May this be an inspiring time which will lead many others into your mission field. Bless all the people of the Albany diocese that you have called. With You, Lord, all is “Mission Possible”.

Amen.

Psalm 103: 20-22
Praise the Lord, you his angels,
You mighty ones who do his bidding,
Who obey his word.
Praise the Lord all his heavenly hosts,
You his servants who do his will.
Praise the Lord, all his works
Everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the Lord, O my soul.

We praise You Lord, for your servants who do your will, for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. We thank You for their upcoming ministry to Peru. Continue to send them your direction and discernment so that they may do your bidding and obey your word. Along with the angels and the heavenly hosts, we praise You, Lord, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We praise you for all your works throughout the world, here in the Diocese of Albany and there in Peru and in all corners of this earth, everywhere in your dominion. Praise You, Lord.
Amen.

Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

We thankYou Lord, for the trust that
Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge
have in You as they listen to your call
to serve You in Peru. We know that they
acknowledge You in all their ways. Help
them to continue to trust and acknowledge You.
Thank You that You will make their paths
straight from Albany to South America.
Amen.

Psalm 98: 1-3
Sing to the Lord a new song,
For He has done marvelous things;
His right hand and his holy arm
Have worked salvation for Him.
The Lord has made his salvation known,
And revealed his righteousness to the nations.
He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel;
All the ends of the earth have seen
The salvation of our God.

We praise You Lord, for the marvelous things that You have done, especially for your sacrifice on the cross, for dying for our sins, for your resurrection and for your merciful grace in that all who believe in You will be saved and have eternal life. We thank You for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge and the part that they will play in revealing your righteousness to the people of Peru. Give them strength and empowerment and financial provision that they may be effective disciples making disciples. We pray that for all of us, Lord. Amen.

Psalm 98: 4-6
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,
Burst into jubilant song with music;
Make music to the Lord with the harp,
With the harp and the sound of singing,
With trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn ---
Shout for joy before the Lord and King.

Lord, we thank You for the gift of joy and for the gift of music. Thank You for Mother Julia’s talent in playing the piano. We pray that her music will bring the Peruvian people into your joy. Amen.

Psalm 98: 7-9
Let the sea resound and everything in it,
The world and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands,
Let the mountains sing together for joy;
Let them sing before the Lord,
For He comes to judge the earth,
He will judge the world in righteousness
And the people with equity.

Lord, we thank You for the beauty of nature and for all the natural beauty in the mountains and rivers of Peru. Again, we thank You for your righteousness and for your mercy and your equity. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon the Mudges, and have mercy upon the people in Peru to whom the Mudges will be ministering. Amen

Note: These passages jumped out at me for the Mudges because Fr. Shaw’s e-mail address contains shepherd. And we know that Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge will be good shepherds for the people of Peru.

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.

We thank You Father God for the ministries of Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. We thank you that they are willing to give up their lives for the ministry that you have for them in Peru. We praise you and thank you that you will be with them every step of the way.

John 10: 14 I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and the sheep know me.

We pray for the people to whom the Mudges will minister in Peru. We ask your grace in helping the Mudges to learn Spanish more easily so they can come to know the Peruvians and communicate your love to them. We pray that the Peruvians come to know and love the Mudges as we do.

John 10:10b I have come to give life and to give it abundantly.

Jesus, we thank You for the abundant grace and love that you have already given to the Mudges and to all of us who believe in You. We know that that love and grace and abundant life will continue for the Mudges, for the Peruvians, and for all who follow you. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

Update from Mother Julia Mudge: (written on August 26)
We hope for the condo to close this week, to get it painted before the 5th of Sept. when the movers are scheduled. Moving sale will be Sat Aug 30 and Mon. Sept. 1.
Packing day on Sat. Aug. 30th. Unpacking day on Sept. 6th (unless the painting takes longer and I have to move the movers back.) The house should close the following week.

I estimate that we are at about 25% of the monthly pledges that we need. One time gifts of money are at a much higher percent.

Lord, we pray that you be with the Mudges as they deal with all the activities revolving around their move from Duanesburg to North Greenbush. We pray that the moving sales are profitable. We pray for the painting of the new condo, that it is completed in a timely fashion. And we pray for an increase in the monthly pledges needed for the Mudges to begin their ministry in Peru. Amen.

Psalm 117:
Praise the Lord, all you nations;
Extol him, all you peoples.
For great is his love toward us,
And the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, all you nations. Father God, we praise You and we thank You for all the people in Peru who will be blessed by the ministry of Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. Thank You for your eternal faithfulness. Amen.

Acts 10: 44-46:
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

Again, Lord, we thank You for your calling the Mudges to ministry in Peru. May there be many baptisms in Jesus and baptisms in the Holy Spirit. We praise You, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Isaiah 40: 31
They that wait upon the Lord
Shall renew their strength
They shall rise up and soar like eagles.
They shall run and not grow weary
They shall walk and not faint.

Lord, we ask for the gift of patience for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge and for us who have committed to a ministry of prayer for them. We know that you are preparing the Mudges for great things in their mission to Peru. Continue to send them encouragement in words and actions and monetary donations. Keep them strong now and give them that vision of soaring like eagles as they do your work. Amen.

Update and Prayer August 10

Update from Fr. Shaw Mudge:
We are hoping to go down to Peru early next year, but we have to raise
sufficient support, first. We are off to a very good start.

As of now, we are planning to move in early September to
North Greenbush, NY.
If things go smoothly for raising support, we could have the following scenario:
"mission month" in Colorado, Mid-Feb to Mid-March.
If that happens at that time,
I'd aim for April in Peru, but before that happens,
SAMS has to give its final approval and for that to happen,
SAMS has to verify that we have sufficientsupport,
we have to have doctors physicals, etc.

We are planning to be commissioned as Missionaries and talk at the Diocesan
Missions Conference on October 11.

Psalm 67:
May God be gracious to us and bless us
       And make his face shine upon us,
That your ways may be known on earth,
       Your salvation among all nations.
May the peoples praise you, O God;
       May all the peoples praise you.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
       For you rule the peoples justly
       And guide the nations of the earth.
May the peoples praise you, O God;
       May all the peoples praise you.
Then the land will yield its harvest,
       And God, our God, will bless us.
God will bless us,
       And all the ends of the earth will fear him.

God, our Father, be gracious to Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. Jesus, God the Son, shine upon them and enable them to reflect Your Glory to all to whom they minister. God, the Holy Spirit, empower the Mudges to share Your Ways and Your Salvation wherever they may be, here in the Albany Diocese, in Colorado and in Peru.
May all the peoples praise You; may the ends of the earth be in awe of You. We ask for your grace and blessings upon the Mudges and all those with whom they will be in contact. Amen.

Prayer and Update July 30, 2008

Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Father God, we thank You for the hope that you have instilled in Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge and for the resulting joy and peace as they put their trust in You. We pray for extra doses of joy and peace as they pack up their old house and get ready to unpack in their new condo. Send them Your Holy Spirit in all of His power and glory. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Weekly Prayer July 23, 2008

Deuteronomy 32: 2-4a:
       Let my teaching fall like rain
       and my words descend like dew,
       like showers on new grass,
       like abundant rain on tender plants.
       I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
       Oh, praise the greatness of God!
       He is the Rock, his works are perfect,
       and all his ways are just.

Heavenly Father, we look ahead to the time when Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge are in Peru ministering in Your Holy Name. May their teachings descend like dew, like showers, like abundant rain, and bear much fruit. Continue to send Your Holy Spirit to guide the Mudges in every way. You are the Rock, Lord Jesus. We ask You, the Holy Trinity, to finish Your work in these three precious servants. We praise Your greatness, Almighty God! We thank You for the work that You have already done and for the work that will continue. Amen.

July 16 Prayer

Psalm 22: 26-27    The poor will eat and be satisfied;
       They who seek the Lord will praise Him –
       may your hearts live forever!
       All the ends of the earth
       will remember and turn to the Lord,
       and all the families of the nations will bow
       down before him.

Heavenly Father, we pray for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. We thank You for the lofty mission to which You have called them. We pray for your continued guidance for them and for your help with all the little details. We thank You that the Mudges’ home in Delanson sold very quickly. We thank You for your provision so that they were able to buy a condo in North Greenbush. Help Fr. Shaw and Mother Julie pack up the old house and make the move in just a few weeks. And continue to provide for them as they contemplate the much bigger move to Peru early next year. We pray especially that there will be enough financial support to start their mission, helping the people of Peru to remember and turn to You and to bow down before You. Amen.

Prayer July 11

Deuteronomy 31:8
       The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

We thank You, Father God, that You go before Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge. We praise You for being with them always, never leaving them nor forsaking them. We pray that You call many encouragers and senders to help the Mudges to start their Peruvian ministry and to bring You all the glory. Amen.
