Scripture Prayer

Isaiah 55:6

Seek the Lord while he makes himself available, call to him when he is nearby!

Father God, we seek you and we call out to you on behalf of Father Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia Mudge.

Verses 8-11:

Indeed my plans are not like your plans, and my deeds are not like your deeds, for just as the sky is higher than the earth, so my deeds are superior to your deeds and my plans superior to your plans. The rain and snow fall from the sky and do not return, but instead water the earth and make it produce and yield crops, and provide seed for those who must eat. In the same way, the promise I make does not return to me, having accomplished nothing. No, it is realized as I desire and is fulfilled as I intend.

We pray that the Mudges’ plans are your plans and that their deeds are your deeds. We pray that their work results in much fruit: many people of Peru coming to know and love and serve You. May the Mudges’ ministry provide the seeds of knowledge to their seminarians needed to produce a new generation of faithful people in Lima. We pray for the beginning of the new semester: that there will be a good number of students in the classes and that each of these students has a calling from You. We pray that Your Holy Spirit will be present in each class, guiding the Mudges and guiding the students into all they need to know to be effective workers in the field.

Verses 12-13:

Indeed you will go out with joy; you will be led along in peace; the mountains and hills will give a joyful shout before you, and all the trees in the field will clap their hands. Evergreens will grow in place of thorn bushes, firs will grow in place of nettles; they will be a monument to the Lord, a permanent reminder that will remain.

Lord, give Father Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia hearts of joy as they lead services at the Mision of La Ascenscion this month. Give them a spirit of peace as they know that Your Holy Spirit is with them every step of the way. May every soul that receives a new revelation of You be a monument to You, a permanent reminder that will remain. Amen.
